Introduction

At Cloudbear our primary services are our Managed Dedicated Cloud and Managed Shared Cloud. Both services are based on our internally developed automation platform, named Cloudbear Automation Platform (hereafter CAP).

Our Managed Cloud service implements everything that you need to have for a custom application, developed in - for example - PHP (Laravel, Symfony), GoLang, Node or Python.

The platform includes:

  1. Managed hosted environments in Europe (100% GDPR compliant with no data being exported).
  2. Continous Deployment pipelines for GitLab (self hosted or GitLab.com).
  3. Managed databases for MariaDB, Dragonfly (Redis), OpenSearch (ElasticSearch), RabbitMQ and Postgres.
  4. Self-control, even though fully managed with our unique configuration format.
  5. 24/7 monitored with our free included monitoring and logging platform and professionally crafted dashboards.
  6. Cloud-Native infrastructure without you needing to do the heavy lifting.
  7. Scalable infrastructure by design. We design the scalable environment, and help you get your application scalable.
  8. Managed upgrades when needed. We make sure your infrastructure is up-to-date and secure.

And this all with our extensive Always SLA (24/7) or Office SLA (8/5), or, even without SLA or our Basic SLA to make your your application is available, secure and up-to-date whenever you require.

Shared vs dedicated

The main difference between our Shared and Dedicated is the underlying clusters where it is hosted:

  • Dedicated: the Kubernetes clusters are dedicated for you (but still managed by Cloudbear), and data is fully separated. For most demanding customers, but has more overhead.

  • Shared: the Kubernetes clusters are shared with other Cloudbear customers, and your applications run in their own isolated namespace. Most interesting for smaller applications.

Full responsibility

In a world of multi-layered cloud services, accountability can be hard to find. When an issue occurs, it is common to hear: "We are sorry, but our upstream provider—be it AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure—is experiencing an incident." This leaves you waiting for a resolution from a company you are not even a customer of.

At Cloudbear, we believe in absolute accountability. We take full, end-to-end responsibility for your application's availability. If an issue arises, we are the team that solves it. There is no finger-pointing and no blaming third-party providers.

This is possible because we have built our platform from the ground up on our own hardware, located in our data centre in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. By managing the entire stack, from the network and servers to the application platform, we have the deep, comprehensive knowledge required to diagnose and resolve issues quickly. This allows us to provide personal, in-depth, and meaningful status updates, because we are in full control of the environment.

Self-Control within a managed environment

One of the biggest challenges in hosting is the trade-off between control and convenience. Traditional managed hosting can be slow, forcing developers to wait on support tickets for simple changes. On the other hand, having full root access to a server gives you complete control but also the full burden of security, maintenance, and operations.

Cloudbear closes this gap with our Cloudbear Automation Platform (CAP). We provide your developers with the autonomy to manage their infrastructure directly, without ever needing to wait for us.

Using our unique configuration-as-code approach, your team can instantly:

  • Create or modify cronjobs, workers, hostnames and so on.
  • Deploy new environment variables.
  • Provision a fully managed RabbitMQ or MariaDB instance.

... and way more.

Once defined in the configuration, our platform takes over. The new resource is automatically deployed, integrated, monitored 24/7, and kept up-to-date by the Cloudbear team. Your developers get the speed and freedom of self-service, while we handle the heavy lifting of management and security in the background. It is true developer empowerment, without the operational headaches.
